This is the best turntable mat I’ve yet heard.  I’ve tried it on a wide variety of decks (budget, high end, belt drive and direct) and every time I’ve wanted to keep it on rather than reverting back to stock. At well under £100, it’s a bargain.
The whole soundstage opens out (front to back, left to right), the tonality of the instruments is better discernible, the bass appears tighter and more fluid and the treble smoother and cleaner. Even with a turntable with excellent disc support such as a Michell GyroDec, the SDS mat makes an obvious difference.
The full HIFI world is reproduced in the case studies section.

How do you work with Sonphonon?

The drawability of Sonphonon Automotive is equivalent to that of conventional steel of the same gauge. However, we recommend the following:

Adjust clearances and pressure on the blank holder in order to decrease sensitivity to folding
Adapt tool design in order to avoid metal-polymer delamination
Bending is the most difficult forming operation; it requires the use of appropriate techniques. Springback is greater with Laminated sheets than with monolithic steel sheets. Therefore, we recommend decreasing the bending radius and selecting low yield strength grades such as Sonphonon Automotive.
In order to avoid peeling of the sandwich near the cut edges, we suggest that the minimum distance between the bend and the edge should be at least ten times the thickness of the sheet.
